As per the directive from the World Health Organisation in Geneva, Switzerland, 14th June is World Blood Donor Day. All around the world there will be awareness raised about the necessity to donate blood. In South Africa both SANBS and WP Blood Transfusion have activities planned in their prospective regions.

The main activity in the Cape will be the holding of a clinic at the buildings of Parliament, with the possibility of parliamentarians, admin staff and even some VIP's supporting the cause of blood donation. The Minister of Health is also expected to make an announcement to this effect in the House.

The best way to support this international effort, is for donors to support their nearest clinic.

The proposed clinics for that day are:

1. Goodwood (all welcome: Dutch Reformed Church Hall, Church str from 15:00 - 19 :15)

2. Edgemead (all welcome: Primary School from 16:00 - 19:30)

3. Landsdowne (all welcome: Savio Salesian Church Hall from 16:00 to 19:15)

4. Forward Slash (staff only in Caravan: 13:30 to 15:00)

5. Argo Road (staff only: 10:30 to 12:30 in Caravan)

6. Rondebosch all welcome: St Stephens' Church from 16:00 to 19:30

7. Struik Publishing (staff only: 13:30 to 16:00 in Caravan)
