Christian Motorcycle Association gets the wheels rolling for blood donation

The WP Blood Transfusion Service (WPBTS) is partnering with the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) to host a donation drive to the Eight Bells Mountain Inn on Sunday, 03 June 2007.

The CMA and the WPBTS have joined forces for the eight year in a row to organise the drive and extends an open invitation to all motorbike enthusiasts to enjoy a scenic drive and boost blood reserves for the Service.

The Western Cape's hospitals and clinics require approximately 600-700 units of blood each day and the WPBTS relies on voluntary donors in regional areas such as the Southern Cape to keep supplies steady.

The drive is preceded by a church service at The Biker's Church on the corner of Market and Cradock streets in George at 10.00am and bikers will depart from the church grounds at 11.30am on the morning of 03 June.

The clinic will be followed by lunch and an exhibition of the best new bikes from Honda and BMW at the Eight Bells Mountain Inn, situated on the R 328 Robinson Pass, 35kms from Mossel Bay and 55kms from Oudtshoorn.

Any person older than 17 years, weighing more than 50kg who leads healthy lifestyle (sexual and otherwise) can donate blood. Donors must remember to have breakfast before attending the clinic.

For more information about the drive, contact Havie Havenga at the CMA on 083 7255 129 or Arlecia Claassen at the WPBTS on tel 044 874 2074.
